The island lies at the Buidssloot in the Jisper and Wormer Field, a large natural area. The surface of the island is about half an acre. There is a sanitary unit with separate women's and men's side located on the island. In total there are three toilets, one urinal, sinks and two showers with hot and cold water.
This unit is connected to the drinking water of the PWN. Please note: There is drinking water, but no electricity. However, some electricity is generated by a solar collector. This is just enough to charge a mobile phone.
On the island are two camping fields: Zuidwal and Rede where you can place your tent. The administrator assigns you your place.
Boats, canoes, kayaks
There are rowboats, (Canadian) canoes, kayaks and life jackets available, which you can use freely. If there are multiple groups camping, the use of these materials is in mutual agreement. You can only come ashore or enter the boat through the scaffolding, as the banks are soft and soggy. Vessels may only enter and exit the water at the two scaffolding platforms. Everything you bring for your stay has to be brought over the water. This is the charm of a deserted island and an unforgettable experience.
On the island are two fireplaces, where you can light a small campfire in a half barrel. Sometimes there is some firewood provided, but it is wise to take it with you.
There are two swimming stairs on the scaffolding to give the opportunity to go swimming. Please note that the children must have a swimming certificate. Safety first!
The cabin is the staff cottage on the island. Sometimes a manager is present here, but usually not. The manager is always available, though.
Of course, we wish everyone a pleasant and peaceful stay on the island!
